How to write notes that become good flashcards
2026-06-17 · 5 min
The simple note structure that makes recall cards sharper and less generic.
Write the testable part
A useful note contains the claim, number, contrast, caveat, example, or step you want future-you to recall.
Instead of saving a vague sentence like 'interesting point about memory', write the exact point that made it interesting.
Stay narrow
Good flashcards are often smaller than good notes. A single number, definition, or distinction can be enough.
Recallio does not add outside facts. If you want a card about a detail, put that detail in the note.
